Congrats!

Eighth-grader Yousuf Awan (right) claimed first place at John F. Kennedy Middle School’s spelling bee held on January 21, 2026, after correctly spelling the winning word, fiberglass.

Awan’s performance capped off an engaging and competitive event that showcased strong vocabulary and focus from all participants.

Seventh-grader Sashwat Marti (left) earned second place followed by David Moraru, also a seventh grader, who placed third.

Congratulations to all students who participated.

Today, sixth-grade ELA students at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Ms. Ali, Ms. Collier Jefferson and Ms. Landa’s classes participated in a Winter Sensory activity designed to strengthen descriptive writing skills.

Students rotated through five stations: sound, taste, sight, smell, and touch, exploring a variety of winter items. At each station, they identified three to five sensory adjectives to describe what they experienced.

The goal? To help students use vivid sensory details and descriptive language to make their writing clear, engaging and interesting for readers.

What a day! The 73rd Plainfield Community Homecoming Parade filled downtown with music, school spirit, and community pride this past weekend!

This year’s theme, “Literary Legends – Celebrating Famous Characters from the Last 100 Years,” honored the Plainfield Area Public Library’s centennial. Leading the parade was Grand Marshal Mindy Jackson, the library’s School Services Librarian, who has spent decades inspiring a love of reading in District 202 students. 📚✨

A wonderful tradition for decades, the parade once again showcased the energy, talent, and pride of our schools and community.
